Integral Consciousness Studies (ICS) Graduate Program’s primary purpose is to support your academic journey to a more precise, clearer, and deeper vision about human existence and the potentials of human consciousness. Furthermore, since it is interdisciplinary in nature, the ICS Graduate Program offers you many opportunities and methods to apply the acquired knowledge in your work environment, relationships, and life in general.

The academic ICS Program advances a transformative way of learning, which goes beyond the well-known structures of the rational mind to include the deeper aspects of self-awareness, authenticity, and transpersonal states of consciousness.

It emphasizes the interconnectedness of seemingly dissimilar aspects of reality and focuses on understanding, exploring, and experiencing the reality that relates to a deeper awareness and more authentic connections with others.

ICS Graduate Program supports your academic development as well as your inner lucidity. Working with your Professor one-on-one will allow you to overcome possible challenges on your way to graduation.

After successfully completing the Program, you will be granted a postgraduate degree Master of Science in Integral Consciousness Studies (M.Sc. ICS) or Doctor of Philosophy in Integral Consciousness Studies (Ph.D. ICS).

ICS Program does not offer psychiatric support, psychotherapy, or any type of psychological counselling.

Generally, the ICS Graduate Program is composed of three Modules complementing each other:

  • 1st module: Cognitive Science
Exploring the brain, the enigma of consciousness, and free will.
  • 2nd module: Humanistic Force
First part: understanding consciousness through clinical and medical models vs humanistic model.
Second part: understanding and exploring the EQ (emotional intelligence), Authenticity, and NVC (nonviolent communication as per Dr Marshall Rosenberg).
  • 3rd module: Transpersonal Vision
Understanding consciousness through the conceptual integration of transpersonal psychology and certain aspects of neurobiology, quantum mechanics, and cognitive neuroscience.

The three modules are based on scientific areas:

  • Neuroscience and neurobiology,
  • Epigenetics,
  • Cognitive psychology,
  • Humanistic psychology,
  • Transpersonal psychology and
  • Quantum theory.

The general structure of the Masters and Doctoral degrees Program is comparable – the Ph.D. Program structure, however, delivers effective methodologies for your inner transformation which you are at liberty to engage in (meaning, you are not required to engage personally in these practices and you are welcome to remain at the academic distance), and an opportunity for original research in Integral Consciousness Studies.

The grading system in use at Rushmore University is based on a 4.0 QPA (A+) expectation of all work submitted. The University standard is to accept only A or B grades on graduate work, with the opportunity extended to any student who achieves a “C” on any of his or her work to raise the grade by up to one letter grade by resubmission of the paper or work product required.

The grading system at Rushmore University is based upon the following:

Letter GradeQPAEquivalency
A+4.0@Equivalent to 95-100 Points vs. 100 Pt. Total
A3.7Equivalent to 90-94 Points vs. 100 Pt. Total
B+3.5Equivalent to 85-89 Points vs. 100 Pt. Total
B3.0Equivalent to 80-84 Points vs. 100 Pt. Total
C+2.5Equivalent to 75-79 Points vs. 100 Pt. Total
C2.0Equivalent to 70-74 Points vs. 100 Pt. Total

Grades below C are not recorded, and results must be improved, or students are not credited with the work attempted during the course. Grades of D and F are rarely, if ever, assigned. They convey zero QPA points if assigned.

The unique approach to academic studies effectively implemented by Rushmore University might be summarized in three words:

creative academic freedom.

Our students create their own path to graduation, depending on their individual goals, needs, disposition, inspiration, and situations in their lives.

In the overall context of the ICS Program, you will have complete freedom to finish studies that are in harmony with your needs and goals. You will choose which aspects of the three Modules to explore in greater depth, and what academic papers to write.

You will also have complete autonomy to choose how deeply to immerse yourself into the methodologies that are of a transformative nature (this applies to our Doctoral degree studies).

Your Professor will support your creativity and will employ no power-over strategies. You will be supported with understanding and compassion.

  • you will be capable of distinctly comprehend how the human brain works,

Rushmore does not limit the number of students who may enroll at any given time and practices a “rolling admissions policy.” Students may begin their studies at any time during the calendar year and are not required to either admit or matriculate at any specific calendar time.

If you are accepted for admission, you will either be eligible for immediate enrollment or you will be put on the waiting list for the first available place in our program.

As we screen applicants, one of the most important guiding criteria for admission is our assessment of your goals and your determination to achieve them.

While a previous undergraduate degree in a relevant field of studies is preferable, for professionals with extensive professional experience, the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be considered. The RPL’s eligibility for the ICS Graduate degrees would be examined on a case-by-case basis.

You do not have to wait for us to receive your test scores or transcripts from the schools you have attended. We can make a decision on your application within a reasonable timeframe (usually 72 hours).

Application for Master’s and Doctoral degrees in ICS is handled directly through the Office of Admissions by the Dean of Graduate Studies at Rushmore University.
